The short version. Sitlings keeps your progress on your own phone and does not ask who you are. The game is free and shows ads: a small still ad on the screen after a level is won, and short videos you choose to watch for a hint, undos, more moves or to keep your daily streak. The ads come from Unity and Google, which collect information about your device to show them, and the game uses Google Analytics to count how it is played, as described below. Neither tells us who you are.
Who we are
Sitlings is made by Tapcandy Studio ("we", "us"). For anything about this policy or your information, write to support@combomint.com.
What stays on your phone
- Your progress: the stars on each level, the characters you have met, your daily streak and your weekly cup, and your settings (sound, music, vibration, reminders, language, less motion). They are stored by the game on your device and never leave it. Deleting the game deletes them.
- Reminders: if you turn on the daily reminder, the game asks your phone for permission and schedules the reminder on the phone itself. No server is involved.
- Sharing: when you share your daily result or invite a friend, the game opens your phone's own share sheet with a picture and a line of text. You choose where it goes; we do not see it.
What we collect
We do not ask for your name, e-mail address or any other detail about you. To learn how the game is played and make it better, it uses Google Analytics for Firebase, a service of Google. It receives:
- what happens in the game: levels started, won and failed, hints and undos used, the daily puzzle, sharing, ads shown and settings changed;
- information about the device and the app: model, operating system, language, app version, an approximate location derived from the IP address, and an identifier for this installation of the game;
- if the game crashes or meets an error, a crash report through Firebase Crashlytics: what went wrong in the game's code, the device's state at that moment (such as free memory and battery level) and the last steps taken in the game. It helps us find and fix the fault.
We see this in reports made of many players together, and use it only to understand and improve the game. Google keeps it for 14 months at most (crash reports for 90 days). How Google uses it is set out in How Google uses information from apps that use its services. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland it is used only as far as you allow in the consent form described below.
The app stores (Apple and Google) may also collect information under their own policies when you download the game, for example crash reports you agree to share with developers; we receive those only in anonymous, aggregate form.
Ads
The ads in Sitlings are served by Unity Technologies through its LevelPlay service, with Unity Ads, the ironSource exchange and Google AdMob as ad sources. To choose, show and count ads, and to prevent fraud, these companies and the advertisers bidding through them receive from your device:
- the device's advertising identifier (Google's advertising ID on Android; Apple's only if you allow tracking, see below) and identifiers set by the ad software;
- information about the device: model, operating system, language, time zone, mobile carrier, connection type, and an approximate location derived from the IP address;
- how ads are seen and used: which ads were shown, whether one was watched to the end or tapped.
We receive only totals from them (for example how many ads were shown and what they earned), never information about you. How they use this information is set out in Unity's privacy policy for players and in Google's policy on advertising.
- On iPhone, the first time an ad is about to play, the game shows Apple's question about tracking. Whatever you answer, the game and its rewards are the same; if you decline, the ads are not personalised. You can change your answer in Settings, Privacy & Security, Tracking.
- On Android, you can delete or reset your advertising ID, or opt out of personalised ads, in your phone's Settings under Privacy (or Google), Ads.
- In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the game first shows Google's consent form, where you choose whether your information may be used for personalised ads and measurement, and by which partners. Ads are personalised only if you agree. You can change your choice at any time from the game's settings ("Privacy choices").
If you choose to save your progress to an account
A later version will let you sign in with Apple or Google to keep your progress on more than one phone. It will be optional, and the game will work fully without it. If you use it:
- We keep the identifier Apple or Google gives us for you (not your e-mail address), the first name Google shares if you sign in with Google, and your game progress as described above.
- We use them only to give you your progress back on any phone where you sign in.
- They are stored on servers run for us by Amazon Web Services in the United States.
- You can delete the account and everything in it at any time from the game's settings ("Delete account"), or by writing to us; see Delete your data. It is erased at once.
Purchases
Sitlings offers one optional purchase, "Remove ads", which takes away the ad shown on the win screen. It is paid through the App Store or Google Play, under their terms and privacy policies; we never see your payment details. We receive only what the store tells us about the purchase (that it was made, and its price and currency, which we count in our analytics), so the game can remember it and restore it.
Leaderboards
If you sign in to Game Center (iPhone) or Google Play Games (Android), the game sends your scores (this week's cup points, today's daily puzzle and your stars) to that service's leaderboards, where other players see them next to the nickname you chose there. Apple and Google run these services under their own privacy policies; signing in is optional, and the game works fully without it.
Children
Sitlings is a general-audience game meant for players aged 13 and over. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age.
This website
This site sets no cookies and loads nothing from other companies. Our hosting provider keeps ordinary server logs (such as IP addresses) for security, for a short time.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in Europe or privacy law in Israel), you may have the right to ask what information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to object to its use. We hold nothing that tells us who you are, so there is usually nothing to hand over; for the information Unity and Google receive, you can also use the choices described in their policies and in the game's privacy choices. Write to support@combomint.com and we will answer within 30 days.
Changes
We will change this policy before we change what the game does with information, and show the date of the change at the top of this page.
